Uncle axle and Mary perform the role of parenthood to David more than his actual parents. Discuss.
Point: I agree to the point that Uncle Axle and Mary performed the role as David's parents more than David's biological parents.
Elaboration: Since young, David already tells the wonder of his dreams to his sister, Mary. And I believe, kids would confide to their parents about how wonderful and magnificent is their dream(s). However, David confided to his sister, like as if she's his mother. And, she even told him not to tell anyone, as to keep him safe. When David is in doubt or trouble, the first person he will turn to is Uncle Axle. Although Uncle Axle is not his direct relative, David still trust him a lot. At a young age of 10, he already regarded Uncle Axle as his best friend. As a 10 year old kid, David should be every close to his parents, or maybe a mummy-boy. But, because his father, Joseph Strom is a strict person with strong principles in life. Therefore, David would not choose to confide to him about his own troubles. Moreover, Uncle Axle knows David better then Joseph Strom, for example David's identity as a telepaths. David feel better telling Uncle Axle because he will give him advises and instruct him on what to do in order to keep himslef safe, without being disclosed. Unlike Joseph Strom, his own biological father that might just eliminate David and the other telepaths if he knew. There fore Uncle Axle is like a father in the heart of David.
Evidence: For example, both when David told Uncle Axle that his problem of thought shapes and Anne wanted to marry Alan, both the case, Uncle Axle gave him very good advises of what to do. And told him what was right and what was wrong. When Uncle Axle know about the fact that David is actually a telepath, he did not expose him, he even told him what to do. And secondly, when he told Uncle Axle about Anne's decision on wanting to marry Alan, he did not expose Anne. And he even gave David instruction on what to do in order to prevent posing of any danger to David and the other telepaths.
