Point: I do not agree that the people of Labrador are justified in their various measures in order to ensure the Purity of their species and thier way of life. My point is that it will be unfair to them because they didn't choose to be be different from the norms, and it's not up to them to decide. And that there must be certain limits to the measure they are taking.
Elaboration: It will be unfair to them because even if they're different from the norms, it doesn't stop them to continue living on. The people of Labrador do not have the rights to 'punish' them because of their difference. They did not choose to be different, thus it's not their fault that they're blasphemy. For example Sophie and the telepaths, even though Sophie has an extra toe on each feet, and the telepaths has the extra ability to communicate using thought-shapes. However on the outside, they look perfectly normal. Sophie's personality and character did not differ from the norms at all. On actual fact, her personality is way better than the rest of the norms. And the telepaths on the other hands, did not have any physical deformations, just because they have an extra ability. They look exactly like the image of god, only a slight difference does not give the People of Labrador the right to punish them.
Evidence: "I was abruptly perturbed- and considerably puzzled, too." this quote tells me that David himself, did not understand why did the people of Labrador have to treat the non-norms different when he sees nothing wrong with them. "She was simply an ordinary little girl- if a great deal more sensible and braver than most. Yet according to the definition..." this show that Sophie was in fact better than the norms who had the image of god. However Davids finds it unfair to Sophie that according to the definition, she couldn't be who she is.
